Vacunas contra el SARS-CoV-2 y sus efectos sobre la mortalidad en pacientes trasplantados

Resumen

Objetivos: A medida que avanza la pandemia y se adquiere un mejor conocimiento de la COVID-19, han surgido nuevas formas de combatir esta enfermedad. Por lo tanto, proponemos esta revisión sistemática como una manera de comprender mejor la acción de las vacunas en la lucha contra la mortalidad causada por este virus, especialmente en pacientes trasplantados. Métodos: En esta revisión sistemática con metaanálisis, los revisores analizaron 386 artículos elegibles según los criterios utilizados y seleccionaron ciegamente estudios que proporcionaban datos sobre pacientes trasplantados y mortalidad, lo que resultó en un total de 15 estudios incluidos en el análisis. Los resultados de la selección se agregaron a una hoja de cálculo y se compiló su información. Resultados: Entre los 15 artículos incluidos, se observó una disminución significativa en las tasas de mortalidad general de los pacientes vacunados, excepto en los estudios donde se utilizó la vacuna de virus inactivado. Además, la mortalidad de los pacientes que se infectaron incluso después de la vacunación se mantuvo cercana a la del grupo no vacunado, al igual que la necesidad de ventilación mecánica. Conclusiones: En resumen, la inmunización de los pacientes trasplantados puede reducir significativamente las tasas de mortalidad en este segmento de la población; sin embargo, debido a su baja tasa de seroconversión, se deben considerar diferentes formas de lograr una respuesta inmune adecuada.
