Introduction: Kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, it cannot be considered a cure, which impacts the performance of the nurse. Nursing consultation is a private activity of the nurse who guides assistance through the provision of scientifically-based care. The nursing professional of a kidney transplant unit is responsible by promoting a greater adherence to the treatment, educational guidance, and monitoring complications such as rejection and infections. Purpose: This paper seeks to report a case experienced by Nursing students along the follow-up of patients at the renal pre-transplant clinic. Method: Experience report by nursing students through the Unified Academic Transplant League (LAUTO) during the followup of patients in renal pre-transplantation at Santa Casa de Miseric rdia of Juiz de Fora - MG in 2018/2019. Results: the nurse plays an assisting and educating role, instructing the patient on the functioning of the waiting list, changes in lifestyle, adherence to immunosuppressive drugs throughout the useful life of the graft and undesirable effects. The involvement of biopsychosocial factors in nursing consultation seeks the completeness and excellence of care. Discussion: the performance of the nurse is extremely important since during consultations, the aim is improving conditions of quality of life to patients who are on the waiting list, further to sharing information on possible surgical complications and discussions on the expected results. Conclusion: CKD is considered a global health problem, leading the patient to dialysis treatment and/or transplantation in an advanced stage. Nursing has an important role in the time of the graft survival, making the patient aware of the importance of continued use of immunosuppressive medications and to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. The preoperative nursing consultation seeks to understand the biopsychosocial needs of the patient.
