Abstract

The treatment for hepatitis C using pegylated interferon and ribavirin in renal transplanted patients has been much discussed due to the possibility of graft rejection. This paper aims to report the case of a transplanted kidney and liver under treatment for hepatitis C using pe- gylated interferon and Ribavirin with scheduled duration of 48 weeks. The patient is in the 31th week of treatment, and he showed reduced viral load and preservation of the liver and kidney functions. During the review of the subject it was noted that this is still controversial; however, recent studies has shown the effectiveness of treatment restraining the virus and preserving the renal graft.
