Abstract

Purpose: To make a systematic review of matters pertaining to maintenance of potential organ and tissue donor and to propose a systematic standardized instrument (POP) model to assist the nursing care. Methods: A search was performed by consulting scientific indexed articles on Scielo, Lilacs and Google Scholar between 2000 and 2010, including the consultation of textbooks CIHDOTT / PE. Results: Analysis of the articles allowed the construction of the discussion based on three approaches and the proposed SOP for nursing care to maintain the potential donor for organs and tissues that established diagnoses, interventions and results. Conclusion: The development of instruments for standardized care is essential to the professional nursing related to brain death and its pathophysiological consequences and procedures to maintain the potential donor for organs and tissues, being necessary to invest in qualifying towards the optimized care both to donors and their family.
